Release notes 26.3
September 2026
Lexacom 26.3 introduces a dedicated ambient AI window, expanded voice control in Echo, a new AI Assistant, single sign-on, and self-service reporting in the Admin Portal.
Ambient AI
Ambient AI now opens in its own dedicated window, available as a standalone service with its own licence and role. Enhancements include:
- Redesigned layout with setup on the left, generated documentation in the centre, and coding options on the right
- Searchable templates list, with most used templates at the top
- Patient details retrieved from SystmOne or EMIS Web and used to inform the generated document, including names, addresses and NHS numbers
- Author and team details used automatically when signing letters
- Attachments, including documents provided by patients, used as context for the consultation
- Custom AI prompts for one-off documents
- Saved refinements, applied automatically each time a template is used
- Generate with refinements applied from the start, rather than only to the existing output
- Recording indicator remains visible when the window is minimised
- Print, email, copy and create job options from the Ambient AI window
Long consultation support
Consultations over around 45 minutes are now processed in segments, with each segment analysed and consolidated at the end. This ensures details from the start of a long consultation are retained in the final document.
Clinical system integration
A new option, alongside the existing API route, inserts generated text directly into the open consultation in SystmOne or EMIS Web, as though typed by the clinician:
- Consultation remains editable, so prescriptions, referrals and further notes can be added
- Available from the Send to menu as EMIS (Lexacom) and SystmOne (Lexacom)
AI Assistant
A new AI Assistant service provides answers from approved sources, including NICE, the NHS and the Lexacom Helpdesk. It can also work from the current consultation and attachments, for example to produce a patient information leaflet. AI Assistant is a separate service and is enabled per team.
Lexacom Echo
Echo has received a wide range of voice control enhancements:
- Expanded command set for selecting, replacing, capitalising, underlining and formatting text
- Read back selected text or sections
- Summarise selected text into an email, list or note
- Set anchor to direct dictations to a chosen window
- Multilingual dictation in German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Welsh and Italian
- Updated What can I say? guide
Single sign-on
Users with a Microsoft Azure account can now sign in to Lexacom with their organisation credentials, without a separate Lexacom password.
Admin Portal
The Admin Portal has been updated to support the new services and provide greater reporting flexibility:
- Manage Ambient AI templates directly from team settings
- Ambient AI templates now have a type (none, clinical encounter, or meeting)
- New services and roles for Ambient AI and AI Assistant, allowing each product to be enabled independently
- Ambient AI reporting, showing generations, refinements, AI Assistant usage and usage by user
- Full Lexacom 3 report library, with date range and author filters and export
- Bespoke reports created from a plain English description and saved under My Reports
Additional fixes and improvements
This release also includes a large number of bug fixes and server-side improvements to reliability and performance across the Lexacom platform, desktop application and clinical integrations.
