How to Use Ambient AI in the Lexacom Mobile App

Ambient AI can capture a live audio input (this could be spoken notes, a patient/client consultation/meeting, or any other dialogue) and use the transcription to generate a range of output options designed to suit your needs.
Common examples include, clinical consultation summaries, referral letters, meeting notes, legal interview summaries, and much more.
If there is a specific kind of output that you are interested in, please contact us with you request. There are many options already available and options for bespoke template creation.

Getting started

• In the Lexacom mobile app, select the Ambient AI tab to access this feature.
• The app will now be ready to capture an audio input

• Confirm consent, where required then
• Click ‘Record’ to being capturing the input.

• You can stop (pause) and start (resume) the recording as much as you like (even to add more information after generating an output).
• You need to capture at least 150 characters for Ambient AI to have enough information to process.

 

Generate an output

• Once you have captured enough information, press pause and you will be able to select the output you require.

• Click the ‘Select template’ dropdown to see a list of the options available to your team.

• Then choose the output you require and select ‘Generate’ to create the output you need.

Always check the output for accuracy. Lexacom is a tool to speed up and improve admin, it can’t replace your expertise and experience.

 

Adjust the output

• If the output didn’t work as expected, you can click ‘Generate’ again to get a fresh result.

You can ask Lexacom to make changes to your output, such as “convert bullet points to number lists.” and it will apply the changes requested.

• Scroll to the bottom, enter your request, and press ‘Refine’.

 

• You can make specific edits to the output using you keyboard and/or the Echo function.

 

Process the output

When you are done, you can use the icons at the bottom to copy the text to paste elsewhere or create a job.

Clicking ‘Create Job’ will give you options (setup dependent) on where to send your job. Typically you will have the following options:

Send to Inbox	This will send the output to your own inbox as a workflow job. You can review this on mobile or on your PC.
Send to Secretary	This will send the job directly to your secretarial team for processing.

 

Once you have done what you need to with the output, you can generate another output option, repeat the steps for as many different outputs as you require.

 

Save the session (if no internet is available)

If you don’t have internet connection, Lexacom will be unable to process the outputs you need. In this situation, you can save the audio to return back to once you have internet connection and then process it.

• Record the Audio you wish to process
• Click the Save icon in the top right to save the audio

• Lexacom will notify you that it saved successfully

• To reload this audio once you reconnect, tap ‘Open’ (top right)

 

• Tap on the saved recording:

• The recording will load, you can play back to check it is correct.
• You will need to press Transcribe and wait for the app to process the audio before selecting any outputs.
• Select the output you require and proceed as above.
• You can delete audio from the list by pressing ‘open’ and clicking on the rubbish bin icon next to the relevant audio.

 

Clear the session

Once you have generated all the outputs you need, clear the session by pressing ‘Clear’

Once cleared, we do not hold that data, we do not share it with any third parties and we never use it to train our AI.

Once it’s gone – it’s really gone.

Leaving the AI tab

If you navigate away from the Ambient AI tab (e.g. click to your inbox) you will see a warning about unsaved work.

This indicates that when you move away from this tab, the recording and any edited outputs will be removed.

If you sent your work as a job, that job will still be available.

If you saved the audio to be processed later (e.g. offline mode) the audio will still be available.

But the actual outputs and any changes you have made in this tab, along with the audio if unsaved, will be cleared when you navigate away from it.

 

View transcription

You can view the raw transcript of the Ambient AI session. This will be pre-processing, so the transcript may not be perfect.

• To view the original text, click on the ‘Original’ section to expand it.
