Previewing Text When Dictation With Echo

Lexacom® Echo uses our Comprehension Engine® to automatically proofread and punctuate your spoken text. In order to do this effectively, it needs to consider the wider context of your dictation. For this reason, the text does not appear on the screen until you stop Echo.

Some users prefer to see the text appear on the screen as they speak.

In order to do this without reducing the accuracy of the result or switching off the proofreading feature, users can set Echo to display a text window containing the live un-punctuated transcript.

Note, punctuation and proofreading will be applied after you stop Echo so the final result will be improved beyond the live preview.

You can switch this on in the Echo settings.

From the menu, select Settings and click Echo on the left.

Scroll down to, and toggle on, the “Show words as you speak” toggle.

Adjusting The Preview

In combined mode, from the main menu, select Transcription.
In Echo-only mode, you will see these settings in the main menu.

Text Size

• Select ‘Preview Text Size’.
• Choose the size you prefer (Small, medium, Large or Extra Large)

Location

• Select ‘Preview Position’
• Choose your preferred position.
  • The default is to appear under the Echo controls
  • You can select a combination of top/middle/bottom and Left/Centre/Right
