How do I import files?

You can import files and create jobs from these imported files in Lexacom. You can import files from a supported digital voice recorder, or supported files that have been recorded elsewhere.

Importing Files

To import files:

If using an external device (such as a digital voice recorder), ensure it is connected.
Click the Import button in the Lexacom toolbar
Older versions: 26.2:
The import screen will appear – click ‘Browse’ to locate the files you wish to import.
A standard Windows file explorer window will open
Select the folder or file/s you require and click ‘Open’

These files will then be listed in the import window will appear. The window will depend whether you are an author (you create jobs), or a non-author (you don’t create jobs). For non-authors, the window will appear as below. The Author view will not include the Author column.

For each file, select the Workflow under which the job will be created. Only workflows with dictation media will show in this list.
If you are not an author, for each file select an author for each file. This user will be the author of the job; these jobs will appear to them like jobs they have created.
Click Import

In some cases you may wish to remove the files from your device automatically after importing. If so, uncheck Keep files after importing? to automatically remove the selected files from your device after importing.

! Files removed in this way are erased permanently – only uncheck this if you are certain you do not need to retain the files after importing
