How do I configure Lexacom to use a clinical system?

Lexacom can retreive patient details from EMIS and SystmOne on workflows that are configured to allow this.

Team Configuration

The clinical system that a team uses is set by a Team Administrator. This only needs to be set once for the Team.

Currently each team’s Reference media may be linked to one clinical system.

To set your Team’s clinical system:

  • Log into Lexacom Portal as a Team Administrator
  • If you are an Administrator of more than one team, select the team from the Teams page
  • Click on the Lexacom Configuration sidebar item

  • Find the Clinical System selection

  • Select your Clinical System in the Type dropdown
  • If using EMIS web, enter your customer number, and URI according to your region:
    • UK general: webInterop.spine.emis.thirdparty.nhs.uk
    • Wales: webInterop.cymru.nhs.uk
    • Northern Ireland: niapi.emishealth.com
  • Click Submit

EMIS Web

If you have used EMIS web with Lexacom 3 this process may already be complete

To configure EMIS Web to allow Lexacom to connect:

  • Log on to EMIS Web as a user with Administrator privileges.
  • Click on the EMIS logo and navigate to System ToolsEMAS Manager > Partner API
  • From the list of Partner APIs select Lexacom
  • Click Activate Application

This has activated Lexacom; you now need to assign permission to the users.

  • Click Edit Users
  • Tick the checkbox for each user that needs to use EMIS Web and Lexacom
  • Once you have selected a user, click on the “Change Password” link and assign the user an API password.
NB. There will be no need for the EMIS Web user to remember it. The password must contain one capital and one number.
  • Click ‘Login Access‘ button and a window will open showing all the EMIS Web users on the system.
NB: This list may be very long. It might be useful to sort the users by name by clicking on the column title.
  • Tick the ‘Login’ and ‘Auto Login’ boxes for all users who require Lexacom integration
When all users have been granted access, save the settings by closing this window.
