EchoScribe® is the name of our automated deferred speech recognition service.
In other words, it’s the part of Lexacom that will transcribe your dictations for you, automatically.
ⓘ The following instructions use screenshots from the PC application. The same principles apply to the mobile app. For information on creating jobs in the mobile app, see the mobile support pages.
EchoScribe® is an optional service available to Workflow users. To use EchoScribe, you will need to have a licence which includes access to that feature. If you don’t yet have access, please contact our sales team who will be able to arrange a free trial for you and/or your team.
*See our basic usage guides or training videos for more information.
⚠️Note: Saving the job will not process the dictation. You need to SEND the job to the next step where it will be processed by the EchoScribe® service.
Lexacom can be customised to suit what is required for individual teams. As such, your team may have bespoke options that differ from those shown below and may have fewer options. If you would like to discuss your team setup, please contact your account manager.
The most common options available to teams include:
Sends the dictation to your secretarial team with an automated transcript.
When you send a job using our standard EchoScribe® to secretary workflow, it will go via the EchoScribe service and then on to your typist/admin/secretarial team for them to process.
They will have the option to send it back to you for review if required, but this is optional.
Returns the dictation to you with an automated transcript, you can then forward it on to your secretarial team.
When you send a job using our standard EchoScribe® to Author workflow, it will go via the EchoScribe service and then return to you for review. You are able to review the transcription, make edits if you wish to and then either complete the job or send it to the next step, where the secretarial team will be able to process it as needed.
Returns the dictation to yourself with an automated transcript.
When you send a job using our standard EchoScribe® to self workflow, it will go via the EchoScribe service and then return to you for review. You are able to review the transcription, make edits if you wish to and then complete the job. This options will not allow you to send the job to any other pools and is commonly available to single users without a team to send jobs to.
The process of transcribing your dictation through the EchoScribe® service takes approximately half the length of your dictation.
A 5-minute dictation will take roughly 2.5 minutes to process. Your Inbox will update every 60 seconds and there will be a small wait for the job to progress from step-to-step. The process may take longer during periods of high traffic.
EchoScribe® dictations must be over 10 seconds in length in order for them to be transcribed. Anything less than 10 seconds will fail as there is not enough speech to ensure an accurate transcription.
EchoScribe® jobs that fail to process will move to the “Failed EchoScribe” step.
This typically happens if:
By default, Failed EchoScribe jobs will appear in the Author’s Inbox for them to action. These jobs can be marked as complete or sent on to the next step (e.g. sent to the secretary to manually action the job).
