Marathon lady goes the distance in London
Dr Debbie Morgan of the Shipston-on-Stour Medical Centre will receive a £1000 sponsorship boost from Lexacom after completing Sunday’s London Marathon.
She completed the 26.2-mile route in 5h 33m 58s and will have raised more than £3,000 for the Shipston Home Nursing charity when all of her sponsorship pledges are totalled up.
“This was my first-ever marathon and it was certainly tougher than I expected,” she said. “The humidity had a real effect and it was also hard to get into a rhythm because I had to spend most of your time weaving in and out of all the other runners.
“But it was an amazing experience overall and the noise from the crowd was just incredible – they really do spur you on and give you that little bit of extra fight.”
Lexacom Managing Director, Andy Whiteley, applauded Morgan for her efforts in London and said he would be presenting her with a cheque for £1,000 straight away.
He said: “Debbie put on a phenomenal show in London and everyone at Lexacom is extremely proud of her. She showed real grit and determination every step of the way and should feel very satisfied that she’s raised such a significant amount for a very worthwhile charity.”
