LMC members embrace Lexacom offer

Members of the LMC Buying Groups Federation are reaping the rewards of improved efficiency in the practice after Lexacom was recently appointed as the group’s exclusive digital dictation software supplier.

The LMC Buying Groups Federation represents 4,500 GP practices in the UK and one of the first to take advantage of the discount offered to LMC members is Mowbray House Surgery in Northallerton, Yorkshire.

“We had been using a standard tape-based dictation system but we were looking for a solution that would help us to streamline the processing of patient referral information,” explained practice manager, Richard Rodley.

“One of the GPs is on the local LMC and he mentioned Lexacom and the discount that was available to us. We looked at other digital dictation suppliers but they were considerably more expensive. The discount offered by Lexacom was very attractive.”

After enjoying a 30-day free trial with Lexacom’s innovative digital dictation software, Mowbray House wasted no time in completing its full-time migration to the system. With 16,000 patients to look after and a team of 14 GPs all working to deliver the best standards of patient care, Mowbray House has already noticed the significant impact that its new digital dictation system has made.

Richard Rodley said: “With the analogue dictation system we had before, there was little or no control over workflow. Dictations used to come all at once or not at all. But with Lexacom’s digital dictation software, the doctors are sending dictations as soon as they have seen their patient, the quality of the dictations is far superior and there are very few queries from the medical secretaries.”

“Making the switch to a digital dictation platform has significantly speeded up and streamlined the referral process at our busy practice and we haven’t encountered any problems at all. The software has been very easy to use and I think we’re all glad that we tried Lexacom because of the LMC relationship that is now in place.”
