Accuracy and efficiency has improved at Kineton and Tysoe Surgeries
Kineton and Tysoe Surgeries in Warwickshire are among the first to benefit from digital dictation software which links fully with the practice’s electronic patient notes making referrals and correspondence safer, quicker and more reliable.
Ben Evans, Reception and IT Manager from Kineton and Tysoe Surgeries, explained the significance of the new software: “Integrating our clinical notes and digital dictation systems has removed that small but significant potential for error when drafting patient documents, particularly as we have a number of patients with the same name. Because Lexacom 3 integrates seamlessly with EMIS, we can now be fully confident that every dictation has the right patient details associated and is filed in the correct patient’s notes,” he said.
The practice, which serves 4,700 patients across two sites, improved its efficiency significantly when it switched to Lexacom software some years ago and has been surprised to see what a difference the latest software is making to their practice.
Lexacom 3 is cloud-based software meaning users can log in to their account from any machine, which is particularly useful for doctors sharing consulting rooms. The software updates itself with the latest features and can be customised to suit individual needs.
“One of the biggest differences has been the speed and reliability of the connection with our branch surgery which can now send dictations and receive transcriptions as easily and securely as if they were at our main site,”
Managing Director, Dr Andrew Whiteley, said, “Integrating our software with electronic patient notes is not simply about efficiency – the primary benefit is accuracy. From my own experience as a GP, I understand how important it is that every clinical letter has the correct patient details and is sent to the right person. We’re delighted to have partnered with EMIS to deliver this important benefit to our clients.”
Lexacom is a leading provider of digital dictation and workflow management software to the healthcare and professional services sectors in the UK. Lexacom’s digital dictation software enables users to quickly and easily record and prioritise accurate dictations for instant dispatch to their secretary for transcription. Secretaries benefit from high quality sound recording and can manage their workload more effectively, knowing instantly which dictations are urgent or routine.
Lexacom’s latest software, Lexacom 3, offers a host of new features including integration with the three leading clinical systems, EMIS, Vision and SystmOne, as well as reporting functions which enable referrals to be tracked and audited, and secure mobile working so dictations can be done anytime, anywhere.
