To whom it may concern.
Wanting to move away from a tape based dictation system, with its inherent weaknesses of sound distortion, possible corruption and the requirement to move the tapes from the doctors to the secretaries; the practice investigated the option of a digital dictation system.
We took up the option of a free trial of the Lexacom Talk & Type® Dictation System. It was quickly apparent that the system would make a major contribution to increasing the efficiency of the practice.
The system was installed at both our main surgery and the branch surgery, linking the 11 consulting rooms and the practice manager to the secretaries.
The system has provided us with major efficiencies, such as:
- Secretaries no longer have to wait for tapes to arrive – dictations arrive on their PCs within seconds of being dictated.
- Secretaries can now plan their workload as the system tells them how long each letter is and what priority the doctor has given it.
- We are now achieving same day processing for Choose and Book.
- Our outgoing correspondence is now dealt with within 24 hours.
- Time is no longer wasted as when a tape was found to be corrupted and the doctor has to dictate the letter again.
- The archive facility allows us to keep the dictations in case of the need to review
- The tracking facility allows doctors to review the progress of a dictation ‘on screen’.
At a recent practice meeting it was agreed that the Lexacom Talk & Type® Dictation System is ‘the single most effective addition to the practice in recent years’.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Lexacom Talk & Type® Digital Dictation System.
